Cream honey

Six jars, whipped slowly

Crystallisation is controlled over ten days at 14 °C, which is what gives the cream its texture. Fruit and spice go in freeze-dried, so nothing has to be cooked.

Our story

It started with twelve hives and one bad harvest

In 2019 my father's apiary near Molėtai produced more buckwheat honey than anyone wanted to buy. Dark honey is a hard sell in a shop full of clear jars. So we started whipping it instead, and selling it at the Saturday market on Pylimo street.

Seven years later we work with four apiaries, all within 120 km of Vilnius, and we still whip everything in 60-jar batches. The soap came later, when we had more beeswax than candles to pour it into.

"We price honey by what it costs the beekeeper to keep the bees alive through a Lithuanian winter. That number is not low."

Rasa Vaitkevičienė — founder, Medove shop

How it's made

From frame to jar in about three weeks

Collected

Frames are uncapped and spun cold at the apiary. Nothing is pasteurised.

Settled

The honey rests in food-grade tanks for ten days so wax and air rise out.

Whipped

Seeded with fine crystals and stirred at 14 °C until the texture turns opaque.

Filled

Hand-filled into 260 g glass jars, labelled with the batch and harvest date.

What's in the jar

Short ingredient lists, on purpose

Raw honey base

Linden, rapeseed, buckwheat or acacia depending on the flavour. Single-origin, one apiary per batch.

Freeze-dried fruit

Cherry, raspberry and sea buckthorn go in as powder, so the honey never needs heating.

Beeswax for the bars

Rendered from our own cappings, filtered twice. It is what makes the soap firm without palm oil.

Plant oils only

Olive, coconut and rapeseed oil. No synthetic colour, no SLS, no palm.

Nothing above 40 °C

Above that, honey loses its enzymes. Our whipping room sits at 14 °C all year.

Tested per batch

Moisture and HMF are checked by an accredited lab in Kaunas. Results are on the jar's batch code.

Reviews

What customers write back

The cherry rosemary jar is not sweet in the way I expected — it is quite tart, and it works beautifully on a cheese board. I've reordered twice.

Soap lathers well and doesn't leave my hands tight. The bars are smaller than a supermarket bar, so bear that in mind. Delivery to Kaunas took two days.

Marius K. · Kaunas · verified purchase

Bought the gift box for my mother-in-law. The packing was genuinely nice and the card listed which apiary the honey came from, which she found charming.

FAQ

Questions we get by email

Cream honey keeps crystallising slowly, especially below 15 °C. It stays perfectly good — leave the jar at room temperature for a few hours and stir, and the texture loosens again.

Raw honey should not be given to infants under 12 months. Above that age it is treated as an ordinary food. If you have a pollen or bee product allergy, please check the ingredient list before ordering.

A 100 g bar typically lasts three to five weeks with daily hand use. Keep it on a draining dish — honey soaps hold moisture, and standing water softens them faster.

Yes, to Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Germany with DPD, usually three to five working days. Rates are calculated at checkout by weight. We don't ship honey outside the EU.

Placing an order

An order becomes a contract once you receive our confirmation email. We may decline an order if a product is no longer available, if the delivery address is outside the countries we ship to, or if we cannot verify the payment. In that case you are refunded in full.

Prices and payment

All prices are shown in euro and include Lithuanian VAT at the applicable rate. Delivery is charged separately and shown before you confirm payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer through the payment provider, and cash on collection at the studio.

Products

Honey is a natural product. Colour, texture and flavour vary between harvests, and cream honey continues to crystallise in the jar. Soap bars are cut by hand, so weights vary by a few grams around the stated weight. Photographs are representative rather than exact.

Allergens

Our products contain bee products. Some soaps contain goat milk and oats. Full ingredient lists are printed on each label; if you need them before ordering, write to us.

Liability

We are responsible for delivering products that match their description and are fit for ordinary use. We are not responsible for consequences of using a product against the instructions on the label, or for delays caused by the courier, weather or events outside our control.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. Disputes are resolved by negotiation first; failing that, by the competent court of Vilnius. Consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version published at the moment you place your order is the one that applies to it.

Right of withdrawal

As a consumer in the EU you may withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Tell us by email at contact@medove.shop and return the items within 14 days of that message.

Food and cosmetic exceptions

Lithuanian consumer law allows sealed food and cosmetic products to be excluded from return once the seal is broken, for hygiene reasons. Unopened jars and unwrapped soap bars in their original packaging can be returned normally. Opened jars cannot, unless the product is faulty.
